Ruud (Rudy) Pompert
Since arriving in the United States in 1994, Ruud Pompert has dedicated himself with great passion to coaching and directing soccer at every level of the game, including recreational, travel, premier, DA/MLS NEXT Academy, NWSL, and NCAA Division I and III programs. He currently serves as the Technical Director of the Buffalo Stallions Soccer Academy, where he oversees the academy’s playing philosophy and long-term player development pathway, while mentoring and guiding coaches to ensure a consistent and high-quality developmental environment. Ruud also serves as an instructor for NYSWYSA.
Originally from the Netherlands, Ruud played as a goalkeeper at the highest amateur level and was a member of the Dutch National University Team. He studied journalism and worked as a freelance writer for several newspapers and magazines, including the leading soccer publications Voetbal International and De Voetbaltrainer. In addition, he spent four years working in the media department of Ajax Amsterdam.
“During the day, I was constantly watching training sessions and games of both youth and senior teams at Ajax,” Ruud recalls. “I witnessed the rise of Louis van Gaal’s early-1990s super team up close. That experience became the foundation of my coaching philosophy: enjoying the game and playing dominant, fun soccer.”
Ruud holds U.S. Soccer A and B Licenses, the United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching and Advanced National Diplomas, and the KNVB Goalkeeper License.
