1v1 Moves

Organization:
Area: 15y x 15y
Set up a square of small cones with a large cone in the center. Players start at the outside cones. The first two players opposite each other dribble to the center cone and make a 1v1 move close to the cone. After the move, they continue to dribble to the other side. When they finish, the other two corners start. Players must make sure to go in the same direction with their move (right or left) at the cone otherwise they bump into each other.
Moves: Step Over, Scissors, Sidestep, Drag/Push, Matthews and so forth.
Focus on technical execution of the dribble and the 1v1 move. Explode after making the move.
1v1, Eight Small Goals

Organization:
Area: 20y x 12y
Set up a short, wide field with three or four small goals on each side. The balls can start on either side of the field, and the 1v1s start with a pass across to the attacker. Two or three 1v1 games are played at the same time.
Game: Players keep track of the number of goals they score. Also keep team scores.
Coaching Points:
Attacker:
-
Receive the ball properly; close or further from foot, depending on the distance to the incoming defender.
-
Make speed, dribble with laces or outside foot.
-
Look over the ball when dribbling or use peripheral vision.
-
When you get closer to the defender, keep the ball closer to your foot
-
Make your move at the right moment. Not too far away or too close to the defender.
-
Explode after the move.
-
Change direction.
-
Look out for other players on the field. No collisions.
Defender:
-
Approach the attacker quickly, slow down when getting close.
-
Stand in an angled position, low in the knees, elbows bent.
-
Move feet quickly with little steps and force the attacker to the sideline.
-
Win the ball back at the right moment.
-
Explode after winning the ball and score as quickly as possible.
3v2 to 1v1

Organization:
Area: 40y x 30y
The field is divided into three zones, with a 20 x 30 in the center zone and a 10 x 30 on the sides. Play begins with a 3v2 in the center zone and ends with a goal scored or a ball played out of bounds. Upon completion, the Feeders pass the ball to the attacker in the outside zones as defenders run in from the center to create the 1v1s. The attacker who began play in the 3v2 does not defend. After five minutes, the teams switch roles.
Game: Keep track of the score between the two teams.
Focus Points: Quick transition from 3v2 to 1v1s
7v7, Large Goals

Organization:
Area: 60y x 40y
Create two teams and play 7v7 (six plus a GK), with both teams playing in a 1-2-3-1 formation. Regular soccer rules apply.
Game: Keep track of the score.
Coaching Points:
Attackers:
-
In ball possession, make the field large and get into the correct build up shape.
Defenders:
-
When the opponent has the ball, make the field small by moving towards the ball and pressuring the ball
Transition:
- After winning the ball, look to play the ball forward, one touch in transition, or explode with a dribble into space.
- After losing the ball, try to win the ball back asap.
