Set Up:
There are 10-12 players set up in the attacking third, with lines starting at the cones. The two teams line up on the end line, and each player starts with a ball. On the Coach’s signal, the first player (in blue in the diagram) sprints towards the cone placed just outside of the penalty area. He runs around the cone and finishes a setback pass from the next player in line. As soon as the shot is taken, the opposing player begins his turn, finishing against the same goalkeeper. After playing two shots, the goalkeeper switches out and play continues. The first team to score three goals wins.
Coaching Points:
1. The shooter should not have to wait for the ball. He should be running onto it.
2. Don’t try to overpower balls set back from the end line. Just make solid contact.
3. Take small steps as you approach the ball so that you can adjust to the pass.
Progressions:
1. Settle the pass and finish a breakaway.
