Set Up:
There are 8-12 players set up on a small field, starting on all four sides. A smaller grid is placed in the center of the field. The players start from outside of the grid, and play begins with the attacker’s first touch. To score, the attacking player must dribble the ball all the way through the grid versus the one defender. The two teams take turns attacking the other, and the players rotate to both of their team’s lines.
Coaching Points:
1. The defender should curve his initial run and force the attacker in one direction.
2. The decision to tackle or not depends upon how well the attacker controls the ball.
3. If possible, the defender should win the ball as opposed to kicking it out of bounds.
Progressions:
1. The defense can score a point with a clean steal.
