Set Up:

There are 12-16 players set up in the attacking third, starting at the cones. To begin the drill, Player 1 passes up to Player 2. As Player 2 receives, Player 3 starts a horizontal run across the field. Player 2 cuts towards the center, and then plays a thru ball to Player 3. Player 3 finishes on goal. Upon completion, the players rotate counter-clockwise to the next line. After ten minutes, the starting positions are switched over to the other side of the field.

Coaching Points:

1.  Begin the thru run when Player 2 controls the ball and looks up.

2.  A horizontal run across the field is the visual cue for the thru pass. 

3.  Control the thru pass as soon as possible, and then look up for the goalkeeper. 

Progressions:

1.  Add a passive defender and call offsides.
