Set Up:
There are sixteen players set up on a field divided into four zones. In the attacking half, the players are 2v1 in one zone and 2v2 in the other. The players must stay inside of their zones during play, and goals can only be scored from the zone with the 2v2. With a turnover or a goal, the three defenders become attackers, and three new defenders enter the defending half along with one new attacker (see diagram). The teams re-form the 2v1 and 2v2 zones as the ball comes across midfield. On goals and balls put out of play, the game is re-started by the Feeder.
Coaching Points:
1. Expand the space in the 2v1 zone to create chances to cross the ball.
2. Use 2v1 combinations (overlap, thru pass, wall pass) on the isolated defender.
3. Hold the runs to goal so that you can sprint to the ball to finish the cross.
Progressions:
1. Progress to 3v2 and 3v3 zones.
