Set Up:
12-16 players start at the cones, with groups of three working together. The drill starts with a long pass from Player 1 to Player 2 as he runs into the middle from the opposite end line with Player 3. As Player 2 receives, Player 3 makes an overlapping run around him, and Player 2 lays the ball off for him to run onto and shoot. The players switch ends of the field, and the drill continues with the next group (Players 4, 5, and 6).
Coaching Points:
1. Player 2 initiates the play by calling for the ball as he runs out.
2. Player 3 must sprint out early to get to a supporting position.
3. The layoff pass should not take the shooter out too wide.
Progressions:
1. Player 1 overlaps down the other side, Player 2 can pass to Players 1 or 3.
