Organization:

Area: 10y x 10y.

Step 1: The goalkeepers dribble with the ball at their feet around the grid for several minutes. The coach stands outside the grid and calls out a 1v1 move, fast footwork skill, or turning move. The goalkeepers perform this skill and then resume dribbling, always moving faster than walking speed. 

Step 2: The goalkeepers pick the ball up and dribble around like basketball players. Right hand only, left hand only. left hand, right hand.

Step 3. The goalkeepers walk around with the ball. They bounce the ball on the ground with two hands and catch it with arms stretched out in front of the chest. Instead of throwing the ball down, hit the ball down with a fist. 

Step 4: The goalkeepers walk around with the ball. They bounce the ball very hard on the ground and catch it above their head. 

During active rest moments juggling and/or perform dynamic stretch movements with the ball. For example, figure 8 between legs, large circular motions with ball in hands and so forth. Some strength activities are an option too. Pushups, sit-ups, crunches, and so forth. 

Focus Points:

  • Dribbling, turning and ball mastery skills. 

  • Catching skills.

  • Players should look to dribble into space and not bunch up. 

  • Don't run into each other.
