Set Up:

There are 6-8 players set up in the attacking third, starting at the cones. Play begins with a pass from the Feeder to Player 1. Player 1 settles the ball and dribbles across the field towards Player 2. Player 2 makes a horizontal run to stay onsides, and then combines with Player 1 on a thru pass to goal. Player 2 then finishes on the goalkeeper. The Feeders alternate play to both sides of the field, and the players should rotate to both lines during the course of the drill.

Coaching Points:

1.  Continue the horizontal run until the ball is touched thru, then cut in sharply to goal.

2.  A horizontal dribbling run across the field is the visual cue for the thru pass. 

3.  Control the thru pass as soon as possible, and then look up for the goalkeeper.

1.  Add a defender and call offsides.
