2v2 to Goal, #1
2v2 to Goal, #1
Set Up:
There are twelve players set up in the attacking third, with lines starting at the cones. At the start of the drill, the first defender moves up to the inside of the ‘D’. The Feeder begins play with a pass to either of the attackers, and the defenders release from their starting positions with the Feeder’s first touch. Play continues 2v2 to completion from there. If the defenders win the ball, they can score in the small goals set up just outside of the penalty area. When a goal is scored or the ball is put out of play, the Feeder re-starts play with the next set of attackers and defenders.
Coaching Points:
1. Commit the first defender with the dribble before passing off.
2. Look to use the overlap or the takeover/heel pass when a dribbling run stalls.
3. Make positive first touches to goal in order to create better shooting angles.
Progressions:
1. The Feeder makes his first pass to a defender.
2. Progress to 3v3.
