Up, Back, and Thru Grid
Up, Back, and Thru Grid
Set Up:
8-12 players are set up inside of the large grid, starting at the cones. To begin the drill, Player 1 plays up and back with Player 2, and then plays the ball thru to Player 3, running into the center. Player 3 lays the ball off for Player 4 to run onto, and Player 4 passes the ball up to Player 5 to re-start the drill in the opposite direction. During the drill, the players rotate to the opposite end of the grid, and after ten minutes, the starting position is switched over to the other side (starting the ball on the right side as opposed to the left).
Coaching Points:
1. Players 3 and 4 must hold their runs until their teammates are prepared to pass.
2. The second pass must be played backwards and not square.
3. Play one touch passes whenever possible, use two touches when you have to.
Progressions:
1. Run two groups at the same time in opposite directions.
