Set Up:
There are 12-15 players set up in the attacking third, starting at the cones. The Feeder begins play with a long pass into Player 1, starting from inside of the ‘D’. Player 1 must play the ball backwards to one of the central midfielders before they can advance to goal and finish. Only the flank midfielders (Players 4 and 5) and Player 1 can finish on goal. During the drill, the midfield players rotate counter-clockwise to all of the midfield positions, while Player 1 stays in his spot. A new player rotates in for Player 1 after five minutes.
Coaching Points:
1. Look to play the ball into the final third, right to the feet of the target man.
2. Player 1 checks away from the ball before receiving in order to create space.
3. When receiving a back pass, look to play the ball thru as the defenders step up.
Progressions:
1. Add a defender to pressure Player 1.
