Keeper Targets
Keeper Targets
Set Up:
There are 16 players set up on large field, playing 7v7 with goalkeepers. Two scoring zones are set up in the corners. During play, the teams score by playing the ball in the air to a goalkeeper standing in either of the two scoring zones. After the goalkeeper catches, he plays the ball right back out to the attacking team and play continues. Throw-ins are used on balls played out of bounds and games are played to five points.
Coaching Points:
1. Anticipate changes of possession and react to the play before your opponent does.
2. When in possession, expand out to the sidelines and down to the end lines.
3. Do not slow down your team’s attack with extra touches.
Progressions:
1. Play to the goalkeeper’s feet.
2. Two points for a header score.
