Keeper Movement
Keeper Movement
Set Up:
There are 9-12 players set up just outside of the penalty area, starting at the cones. During the drill, the players shoot in sequence (left to right or vice versa), and the goalkeeper plays all three shots, re-adjusting his position with each shot. After the three shots are taken, a new goalkeeper switches in. The speed of the drill can be increased to force the goalkeeper to get up quickly and re-set. The sequence of the shooters can be changed as well.
Coaching Points:
1. Come to a set position before the ball is struck, regardless of where you are.
2. Block out the distractions from the other shooters, and play one ball at a time.
3. Choose to catch or parry as early as possible. Parry hard shots from in close.
Progressions:
1. Use a random shooting order.
2. Move the shooters closer, but only use half of the goal.
