Into the Corner
Into the Corner
Set Up:
12-15 players are set up in the attacking third, starting at the cones. To begin play, the Feeder plays the ball towards the corner, and both players release from the cones with his first touch. The attacker collects the ball and the defender tries to track him down before he crosses the cone line. If the attacker dribbles the ball over the line, he continues to goal all alone. If the defender wins the ball, he can score in the small goal set up along the sideline. Upon completion, the other Feeder re-starts play on the opposite side of the field.
Coaching Points:
1. Angle the recovery run towards the center rather than chasing the attacker from behind.
2. After getting goal side, make the attacker commit first. Do not stick a foot in.
3. Get the attacker turned away from goal before trying to win the ball.
Progressions:
1. Add a 1v1 to the penalty area.
