3v1, Penalty Area
3v1, Penalty Area
Set Up:
There are ten players set up in the final third, playing 3v1 in the box. During the drill, the attacking team tries to maintain possession and finish on goal. The attackers are limited to one touch, and they must get their shot off within five passes. If the defender wins the ball, he can score on the two small goals set up outside of the penalty area. The Feeders serve three balls each, and then switch places with the four players in the penalty area. Each time a group goes on a new player assumes the defensive role.
Coaching Points:
1. The attackers should use the entire penalty area, forcing the defender to chase.
2. Look for rebounds pushed wide of the goal posts.
3. Look for first time shots from passes set back from the end line.
Progressions:
1. Progress to 4v2, and then 6v3.
