2v2, Split Field
2v2, Split Field
Set Up:
There are 12-15 players set up on a small split field, playing 2v2. The Feeder begins play with a pass to either attacker, and the defenders must wait for the attackers to cross the midfield line before playing the ball. Upon completion, the two attackers rotate off, and the defenders start the next attack against two new players rotating in from the sideline. When a goal is scored or the ball is put out of play, the Feeder re-starts play with a pass in to the attacking team.
Coaching Points:
1. Look to isolate one defender on 2v1’s (wall pass, overlap, takeover, etc.).
2. Look to attack the first defender aggressively with the dribble.
3. Close to goal, choose the dribble over the pass. Take the responsibility for shooting
Progressions:
1. Add a neutral attacker.
2. Progress to 3v3.
