2v2, Defending the Line
2v2, Defending the Line
Set Up:
Twelve players are set up on the small grid, playing 2v2 with players stationed on the end lines. The Feeder begins play with a pass in to either attacker. To score, the attackers must dribble the ball over the opponent’s end line. The defenders on the end line must stay on the line, but they can move laterally. If the defenders win the ball, they become the attacking team. Attackers can pass back to teammates on the end line, but they only get one touch. If a point is scored or a ball is put out of play, the Feeder re-starts play with a new set of players.
Coaching Points:
1. Take the dribble into the center to avoid being trapped on the sideline.
2. Create a 2v1 by running towards the first defender.
3. The attackers need to get physical with the defenders on the end line in order to score.
Progressions:
1. Progress to 3v3.
