1v1, No Turn
1v1, No Turn
Set Up:
There are 12-15 players set up on a small grid, with lines of players starting on the outside. The players work East to West or North to South across the grid. To begin play, the first attacker and defender in line move to the center of the grid. The second player in the attacking line finds his teammate with a pass, and the attacker tries to turn and dribble over the defender’s end line. If the defender wins the ball, he tries to dribble out over the attacker’s end line. Upon completion, the drill changes direction and the other two groups begin.
Coaching Points:
1. Once the defender is on the attacker’s back, he should never let him turn to goal.
2. Get sideways on to the attacker and stay an arms’ length away from him.
3. The defender should never commit first and/or stick a foot in. Play with patience.
Progressions:
1. Progress to 2v2.
