6v3, Dribble Across
6v3, Dribble Across
Set Up:
There are nine players set up on a small field, playing 6v3. The six attackers play on the outside of the field, maintaining possession versus the three defenders. They are limited to two touches. When an attacker loses the ball, he switches with the defender who won it. At any time, attackers can score points by dribbling the ball all the way across the grid, and each player keeps a running tally of his own score. The Feeder re-starts the game whenever the ball is put out of play.
Coaching Points:
1. When it’s available, utilize the long pass over the top to open up the entire space.
2. Always look for a thru pass or a dribbling run between two defenders, but don’t force it.
3. Play with your head up and make your decisions well in advance of receiving the ball.
Progressions:
1. Add an attacker and a defender in the middle.
