Keeper Outlet, #1
Keeper Outlet, #1
Set Up:
12-16 players are set up in the defending third, with lines starting at the cones. To begin play, the attacker passes the ball back to the goalkeeper and runs towards the end line. With the first touch, the defender releases from the cone and pressures the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper controls the ball, commits the defender, and then passes outside to the attacker. The attacker turns up the field and tries to finish in the small goal on the sideline. Both sides of the field are in use at the same time during the drill, and the players rotate to all four lines.
Coaching Points:
1. The goalkeeper should play the ball before the defender gets to within five yards.
2. The outlet pass from the goalkeeper should lead the attacker up the field.
3. The attacker should get to a deep starting position and take his first touch forward.
Progressions:
1. Progress to 4v2 Breakout Drill.
