Cross and Finish
Cross and Finish
Set Up:
There are 12-16 players set up on the small field, with players starting at the cones and in front of goal. To begin play, Player 1 makes a long pass up to Player 2. Player 2 lays the ball off for Player 3, running to the corner. Player 3 crosses to Player 4 for a finish on goal. During the drill, the players rotate from 1 to 2 to 3, and then to the opposite end line. New players rotate in for the shooters every five minutes.
Coaching Points:
1. Player 3 has to hold the run in order to adjust to the layoff pass.
2. The first touch should be made towards the goal to create a better angle to cross.
3. Look for first time finishes on goal with the head or the volley.
Progressions:
1. Player 3 runs under Player 2 and finishes a layoff pass.
