Up, Back, and Thru to Goal
Up, Back, and Thru to Goal
Set Up:
There are 12-16 players set up on the narrow field, with lines starting at the cones and two players starting in the center. Player 1 begins the drill with a pass up to Player 2, and then runs an overlap around him. Player 2 plays the ball back to Player 3, who plays the ball thru to Player 1. Player 1 finishes on goal. Upon completion, the drill starts in the other direction. Two new players rotate into the center every 2-3 minutes.
Coaching Points:
1. Player 1 must watch the play develop, and then cut in sharply behind Player 2.
2. The first touch should improve your shooting angle and not take you out too wide.
3. Deal with the goalkeeper as opposed to just hitting the ball at the goal.
Progressions:
1. The drill runs in both directions at the same time.
