2v2 to Goal, #16
2v2 to Goal, #16
Set Up:
12-16 players are set up in the attacking half, with lines starting at the cones. At the beginning of the drill, two defenders leave the end line and position themselves inside of the ‘D’. The Feeder then begins play with a pass out to either attacker. The players release with the Feeder’s first touch, and play continues 2v2 to goal. If the defenders win the ball, they try to score in the two small goals set up near the midfield line. Upon completion, the Feeder re-starts play with the next set of attackers and defenders. The two teams switch places after ten minutes.
Coaching Points:
1. Make an aggressive move towards goal and force the defender to commit first.
2. If the 1v1 stalls, the second attacker can look for the overlap run or a takeover.
3. Make a positive touch towards goal to create a better shooting angle.
Progressions:
1. Add a neutral player.
2. Progress to 3v3.
