5v5 Plus Five, #1
5v5 Plus Five, #1
Set Up:
There are fifteen players set up in the large field, playing 5v5 with five neutrals. During play, four of the neutrals play on the outside of the field (two on the sidelines, two on the end lines), and one plays on the inside. To score, the attacking team must pass the ball to the neutral attacker on the end line. After the attacking team scores, they keep the ball and attack in the other direction. Games are played to two goals with a five minute time limit. The winning team stays on the field, and the losing team switches out with the neutrals.
Coaching Points:
1. Play one and two touch soccer, moving the ball faster than the defenders can recover.
2. Maintain possession until a good opportunity to attack materializes. Don’t force it.
3. Create superior numbers by attacking immediately after winning the ball.
Progressions:
1. Limit the neutrals to one touch.
