5v5, Split Field, #2
5v5, Split Field, #2
Set Up:
There are ten players set up on a split field, starting 4v3 in one half and 1v2 in the other. During play, the four attackers maintain possession in their half and look to switch the ball over to the lone attacker in the other half. When the ball is played over, three attackers and one defender cross over to re-form the 4v3. When the defenders win the ball, a teammate crosses over and the player losing the ball leaves the zone in order to create a new 4v3. Balls played out of touch are re-started by the Feeder.
Coaching Points:
1. Force the defenders to cover the entire space when in possession of the ball.
2. Anticipate the pass across and sprint over to support the lone attacker.
3. Use 2v1 combinations (overlap, takeover, wall pass) on isolated defenders.
Progressions:
1. An attacker must dribble the ball across the midline.
