5v2, with Long Changes
5v2, with Long Changes
Set Up:
There are fourteen players set up on a field split into three zones, playing 5v2 in each end zone. During play, the five attackers play keep away from the two defenders in one end zone and look to change the ball over to the opposite end zone. When a defender wins the ball, all four defenders move into the central zone along with one attacker from each end zone, creating a 4v2. The defenders play keep away until the ball is re-possessed by the attackers, and then all of the players move back in to their original zones. Balls put out of play are re-started by the Feeder, and the players switch teams after ten minutes.
Coaching Points:
1. Use the entire space in the end zones to create enough space for a long pass across.
2. Prepare and play the ball as quickly as possible, using one or two touches.
3. Switch to defense immediately after losing possession and win the ball back.
Progressions:
1. Play 4v3 in each end zone, and 6v4 in the central zone.
