6v4 Both Ways
6v4 Both Ways
Set Up:
There are 22 players set up on a split field, with players starting from the sideline. During the game, the attacking team starts in the defending half, and the defenders may not cross over the midfield line. Play continues 6v4 to completion. On a goal or a turnover, the four defenders stay on the field and become attackers. Two additional attackers enter play (Players 1 and 2 in red), and the attack is re-started by the goalkeeper. Four new defenders enter the field in the other half (Players 1-4 in black) and play continues 6v4 from there.
Coaching Points:
1. Make forward runs in advance of the ball and get the defense moving backwards.
2. Look for a thru pass to the third man, sending him in behind the defenders.
3. Make a positive first touch towards the goal when finishing from a wide position.
Progressions:
1. Start the attack with set patterns of play.
