2v2, Overlap to Goal
2v2, Overlap to Goal
Set Up:
There are 12-16 players set up in the attacking third, starting at the cones. The Feeder begins play with a pass out to Player 1 (or 2), and the defenders release with the Feeder’s first touch. Player 1 plays a square ball to Player 2, and runs an overlap around him. From there, play continues 2v2 to goal. If the defender wins the ball, he can score in the two small goals set up just outside of the penalty area. Upon completion, The Feeder re-starts play with the next set of players.
Coaching Points:
1. Cut in sharply on the heels of your teammate. Don’t run out too wide.
2. Aggressively attack the defender with the dribble and commit him before passing off.
3. Make positive first touches towards goal and improve your shooting angle.
Progressions:
1. Add the takeover/heel pass combinations.
2. Progress to 2v2.
