Breakout Game
Breakout Game
Set Up:
Eleven players are set up in the defending third, playing 4v4 with the defenders starting at the cones. The Feeder begins play with a long pass into one of the attackers (in green), and the defenders (in black) release from the cones with his first touch. From there, the attackers must work the ball out of the back and score in one of the three small goals set up in the midfield. If the defenders win the ball, they attack the big goal. On goals and balls put out of play, the drill is re-started by the Feeder.
Coaching Points:
1. Both outside backs should make runs all the way out to the sidelines.
2. Include the goalkeeper in the attack, and use him to change the ball to the other flank.
3. If no passing options are available, clear the ball towards the outside of the field.
Progressions:
1. Add a neutral attacker.
