Up, Back, and Thru #2
Up, Back, and Thru #2
Set Up:
Thirteen players are set up in the small grid, with players starting at the cones. To begin the drill, Player 1 wall passes with the neutral. Player 1 then plays a thru ball to Player 2 in the center. Player 2 plays the last pass out wide to Player 3 or Player 4. Upon completion, the next group (in blue) begins, running the same pattern with the neutral, starting from the other side. After the second group finishes, the drill re-starts in the opposite direction. The players rotate to all four positions during the drill.
Coaching Points:
1. Hold the runs until your teammate is ready to pass. Let the play develop.
2. A poor first pass is likely to result in a poor return pass.
3. Use one touch passes whenever possible. Players shouldn’t have to wait for the ball.
Progressions:
1. Add a support player, run the drill in both directions at the same time.
