Passing Circuit, #6
Passing Circuit, #6
Set Up:
There are 12-16 players set up in the attacking third, starting at the cones. To begin the drill, Player 1 wall passes with Player 2, and then plays the ball up to Player 3. Player 3 runs onto the ball and then passes up to Player 2, who has come back to support the play. Player 2 lays the ball off for Player 3, who finishes on goal. Upon completion, the players rotate to the line that they passed to, and the lines are switched over to the other side of the field after 10 minutes.
Coaching Points:
1. The short passes in the combinations must be played directly to feet.
2. The layoff pass must be played square or backwards to keep the goalkeeper on his line.
3. Player 3 must hold his run and wait for Player 1 to settle the ball and look up.
Progressions:
1. Player 3 must beat the goalkeeper and dribble over the goal line.
