Two Shots
Two Shots
Set Up:
There are 12-16 players set up inside of the attacking third, with players starting at the cones. To begin the drill, Player 3 overlaps around Player 1, as he passes the ball up to Player 2. Player 2 lays the ball off for Player 3 to finish. Immediately after Player 3 shoots, Player 1 runs to goal to finish a ball set back by the Feeder. During the drill, the outside lines alternate turns, with Player 4 making the next run to goal. Player 2 rotates out of his spot after five minutes and the other players rotate from 1 to 3 to 4 during play.
Coaching Points:
1. A poor first pass will affect the quality and the timing of the second pass.
2. The second pass cannot take the shooter too wide or too close to the goalkeeper.
3. If the shooter takes his first touch away from goal, it creates a poor shooting angle.
Progressions:
1. Wall pass, finish.
2. Back pass, finish.
