Passing and Turning
Passing and Turning
Set Up:
There are 8-12 players set up in the small grid, starting at the cones. The players pass the ball around the outside of the grid, maneuvering around the cones set in the corners. Each player must come to the ball to receive the pass, and then turn sharply around the cone before passing to the next player (see Progressions for possible turning moves). After passing, the players follow their pass to the next corner. During play, the direction of the drill changes every 2-3 minutes.
Coaching Points:
1. Accelerate out of your turning move and create space between you and the defender.
2. Run hard towards the ball, selling a move in that direction.
3. Open up with the first touch and turn your body away from the passer.
Progressions:
1. Let it run by.
2 Step over.
3 Pull behind the leg.
