8v6, Defending Two Goals
8v6, Defending Two Goals
Set Up:
There are sixteen players set up on a large field, playing 8v6 with two goalkeepers. During play, the attacking team can score in either goal. Balls played out of bounds are re-started with a throw in. If the defenders win the ball, they attack the two small goals set up on the opposite end line. When a goal is scored or the ball is put out of play, the Feeder re-starts the drill.
Coaching Points:
1. The entire group must slide to the right or the left as the goalkeeper makes commands.
2. The first defender must always pressure the ball and deny every shot or cross.
3. Stay involved in the action at all times and watch for quick changes of direction.
Progressions:
1. The Feeder begins play with a pass to the defense.
