Defend the Mid Line
Defend the Mid Line
Set Up:
14 players are set up on a split field, playing 2v2 in each half with four neutral players stationed along the midfield line. Each team looks to score in the attacking half, and all of the players must stay inside of their half of the field during play. The neutrals must stay on the midfield line and they are limited to two touches. On goals and balls put out of play, the game is re-started by the Feeder. After five minutes, the neutral attackers rotate out.
Coaching Points:
1. Curve your run to the shooter and force him onto his weaker foot.
2. Once you have the attacker turned away from goal, don’t let him turn and face you.
3. Don’t ‘switch off’ when play moves into the other half of the field.
Progressions:
1. Neutrals can fake shots and go to goal.
