Back Pass Drill
Back Pass Drill
Set Up:
6-8 players are set up inside of the large grid, starting at the cones. To begin the drill, Player 1 plays up to Player 2 (or Player 3). Player 2 plays back to Player 1, who then plays the ball thru to Player 4. Player 4 re-starts the drill in the opposite direction as Players 2 and 3 turn to support him. During the drill, the central players shuttle back and forth across the grid. After five minutes, new players rotate to the support positions.
Coaching Points:
1. If the first pass is poor, the rest of the combination is likely to break down.
2. The second pass must be played backwards and not square.
3. Play one touch passes whenever possible, use two touches when you have to.
Progressions:
1. Players 2 and 3 switch places during play.
