Combine and Change
Combine and Change
Set Up:
There are four players set up in the large grid, with two players starting at each end. Player 1 begins the drill with a double pass / wall pass combination with Player 2, running in behind the mannequin to receive. After receiving the last pass, Player 2 plays it across the field to Player 3. Players 3 and 4 combine in the same fashion, and play continues back and forth across the grid in this pattern. Different combinations can be added as the drill progresses.
Coaching Points:
1. The long pass is a driven ball, struck with the instep. It stays low and has backspin.
2. The first touch should settle the ball to the ground and take the pace off of it.
3. While the long pass is in the air, show yourself and communicate with your partner.
Progressions:
1. Overlap / Thru pass
2. Takeover / Thru pass
