Ball Control in Fours
Ball Control in Fours
Set Up:
Twelve players are set up on the small field, playing in three groups of four. The three groups of players pass or dribble within the grid, using the entire space and avoiding contact with the other two groups. Group 1 (in black) passes a ball around the outside of the field using 1-2 touches. Group 2 (in blue) passes a ball around the inside of the field using 1-2 touches. Group 3 (in red) is the dribbling group, and each player carries around the inside, taking the ball to all four sides of the field. After two minutes, the groups switch roles.
Coaching Points:
1. Players should not hide in dead space. They must show and call for the ball.
2. Before striking the pass, players should look up and check the target one more time.
3. When a passing lane closes down, fake the pass and look for another option.
Progressions:
1. Players can knock the other team’s ball out of play.
