8v6 Game
Organization:
Half field or little longer, same set up as above. When the team has two goalkeepers, play with two large goals. The team to coach plays in 1-4-2-1 formation, the other team in a 1-4-1 formation.
Coaching Points:
Attacking Team:
-
Movement as in W-passing. Look to go forward and score, value the ball, be patient, keep ball possession.
-
Outside backs (#2 and #3) go low or high depending on which central defender has the ball.
-
Always receive the ball with backfoot to open up.
-
Look to go forward on first touch. If not possible, bounce the ball back, or when dribbling, use a turn to go back.
-
Value the ball.
-
Central defenders (#4 and #5) tilt (drop) a little bit when the other central defender has the ball.
-
Switch play, break vertical line (BVL) or find midfield.
-
Dribble the ball in when possible.
-
Midfielders (#6 and #8) go high/ low depending on which central defender has the ball. Pass or turn.
-
Technique: Pass with the correct speed to the correct foot. Receive with furthest foot to open up.
Team Defending:
-
#9 makes an L-Run, #11 and #7 start pinched in and invites a pass from the central defender to the outside back.
-
Pressure ball at that moment.
-
Do not pressure the central defender.
-
Midfielder slides over to the side of the ball and picks up #6 or #8 or cuts of passing lane forward.
