Open Man Passing Drill
Open Man Passing Drill
Players Required:4
Balls Required:
Goals Required:
Set Up:
This drill focuses on receiving a pass and making a good first touch in order to deliver a pass to the open player right away. The drill requires four players and two soccer balls. One player is designated as the passer (Player 1 in the diagram), and the other three line up about 10 yards in front of him. Two of those outside players start with a ball. Player 1 starts the drill by calling for the first pass. After receiving, Player 1 controls and passes to the open player (the one who did not start with a ball) using a two-touch rhythm. Players should challenge themselves to receive ball after ball as quickly as possible. After 30-60 seconds, the passer switches out.
