3v1 Speed Passing Soccer Drill
3v1 Speed Passing Soccer Drill
Set Up:
-
In each grid, there are three attackers and a line of three defenders.
-
To start the drill, the first defender plays a ball to the attacker in the opposite corner, and then runs into the grid to try and win it back. The attackers count how many consecutive passes they can make until the defender wins the ball. When the defender gets possession, he tries to dribble out of the grid. Attackers can win the ball back before he gets out.
-
Upon completion, a new ball is immediately played in and the game restarts with a new defender. Play for two minutes, and then rotate the groups of defenders and attackers.
-
Make grid smaller or larger depending on ability of players.
Coaching Points:
-
Preparation touch. Is your first touch setting you up for a quick second touch? Try to take your first touch so that you can open your hips to the field and see everything.
-
Angles of support. How are your teammates moving off the ball to provide passing options?
