4v4 to 4 Goals
4v4 to 4 Goals
Setup:
The teams play 4v4 on a short, wide field that is split into three zones. Two small goals are set up on both of the end lines near the corners. The players are 3v3 in the central zone with one player stationed in the end zone as a defender. The players must stay inside their zones at all time. Goals can only be scored from the central zone. Defenders rotate out each time a goal is scored. Games are played to five.
Coaching Points:
1. Accuracy and pace of pass - The pass should be played in a way that helps the receiver control the ball and get away from pressure.
2. Encourage players to open up their body when receiving. Receive the ball with the inside of the foot and turn in the other direction.
3. Change the point of the attack quickly and often.
Progressions:
1. The defender is allowed to score from an end zone. His goals are worth 2 points.
2. Attackers can dribble into the end zone and score. These goals are worth two points.
