Five Player Finishing
Five Player Finishing
Topics:
Dribbling, Finishing
Explanation:
A shooting practice with a lot of potential variation as shown. To ramp up the speed and quality of shots you can introduce a competition between the two teams, first to a set amount of goals, ensure the next player does not go until the player before has shot so there is an element of safety.
Coaching Points:
-
Set the ball just in front of you so you can step onto it and strike cleanly. Big toe of the standing foot in line with the back of the ball.
-
Scan to see where you are shooting but then get your head down and strike through the ball.
-
Different scenarios will need different types of finish to maximize repetition and minimize instruction, let them work out what is best for them to put the ball in the back of the net.
It’s worth telling players this is a shooting exercise so you may not even need to get past the defender, just create space to shoot early.
