3v1 Transfer Rondo
3v1 Transfer Rondo
Setup:
Nine players are organized into three teams and set up in a 20x20 yard area, split into four squares. One team starts as the possession team, one as the defensive team, and one as the supporting team. Play begins with the possession team creating a 3v1 game with one defensive player, while the other two defenders wait on the halfway spot. The supporting team's players take a position in an empty square. After five passes, the ball can be transferred by the possession team into another square. By doing so, they switch roles for the teams: the supporting team becomes the possession team in the new 3v1, while the possession team become the supporting team and fills the empty squares. A different defender moves into the 3v1, replacing his teammate. When the defender wins possession in the 3v1, they must transfer the ball to a supporting player and the team that lost possession now becomes the defensive team. Play 3x2 minute sets.
Coaching Points:
1. Play in a one and two touch rhythm and force the defender to chase
2. Use the entire square so that the defender has to cover the entire space.
3. Anticipate turnovers and passes into another square, and get moving before your opponent.
