6v4 Transfer Game
6v4 Transfer Game
Set Up:
Two teams play 5v4 plus one (the defending team leaves one player in the other half - Player 2 in the diagram), looking to possess the ball inside of their half and score points for making ten consecutive passes. When the defending team wins possession - Player 1 in the diagram, they switch the ball over to their teammate in the other half (Player 2). The player who lost the ball - Player 3 - stays behind as all of the other players run into the other half to re-form the 5v5 plus one. Games are played to 5 points.
Coaching Points:
1. Possession – Expand the field when attacking and use the entire space.
2. Passing – Play the ball out of crowded areas just before the space closes down
3. Speed of Play – Play in a one and two touch rhythm along with the rest of the team.
Notes:
*The player left behind in the empty half of the field should stay as far away from the ball as possible and show for a long pass when the ball is transferred. This will force the defense to make longer runs and give his team more time to get into the space.
Progressions:
Add a player to each team and play 6v5 plus one in the same space.
