Takeover Shuttle
Takeover Shuttle
Set Up:
There are 8-10 players set up at opposite ends of the grid, with the two lines facing one another. To begin play, Player 1 dribbles across the grid towards the other line. Player 2 makes a run into the center of the grid, and the two players perform a takeover or a heel pass combination. After the combination (or fake) is made, the ball is dribbled across to Player 3 for the next combination. Play continues back and forth across the grid with players combining for heel passes, takeovers, or fakes.
Coaching Points:
1. After the receiver calls “leave it”, the dribbler should not touch the ball again.
2. The heel pass should not slow the receiver down. You may have to play it early.
3. Kick the knee up to fake the combinations, and accelerate out of the fake.
Progressions:
1. No talking allowed.
