Up, Back, and Thru Shuttle
Up, Back, and Thru Shuttle
Set Up:
There are five players set up inside the grid, working back and forth across the field. Player 2 begins play with a checking run back to the ball. Player 1 passes the ball up to Player 2, who touches it back to Player 3. Player 3 finishes the combination with a thru pass to Player 4. Player 4 passes to Player 5 to restart the drill in the opposite direction, and Player 1 begins the next sequence by checking back to the ball to receive the first pass. Players 3 and 4 continue to support play on the outside, and Players 1, 2, and 5 continue to shuttle back and forth in the center of the field. During the drill, the players rotate to new positions every two minutes.
Coaching Points:
1. Watch the play develop in order to time your runs.
2. The first and second passes should be made directly to the player’s feet.
3. Play one touch whenever possible, and use two touches when you have to.
Progressions:
1. The back pass can go to Player 3 or 4.
