7v5, Breakout
7v5, Breakout
Set Up:
17 players are set up in the defending third, playing 7v5 with three defenders stationed on the end line. The GK begins play with a pass to either outside back. From there, the attackers work the ball out of the back and attack the two small goals set up in the midfield. If the defenders win the ball, the three extra defenders enter the field and attack the goal 8v7. When a goal is scored or a ball is put out of play, the GK re-starts play with the next pass towards the corner.
Coaching Points:
1. Use the entire space, switch fields, and involve the goalkeeper in the attack.
2. The outside backs should look to run with the ball once it is played out to the flank.
3. Do not take risks in the defending third, or take on any defenders 1v1.
Progressions:
1. Progress to 7v6.
