5v5, Split Field, #1
5v5, Split Field, #1
Set Up:
There are 12 players set up on a split field, playing 5v5. During the game, each team plays 3v2 in the defending half and 2v3 in the attacking half. The ball must be passed into the attacking half before shooting. When the ball is played in, two attackers cross over with the pass, creating a 4v3. When the defenders win the ball, the two attackers must cross back over so play can re-start 3v2. Balls put out of play are re-started by the goalkeepers.
Coaching Points:
1. Use the full width of the field and make the defenders chase.
2. In the back half, open up with the first touch and find the outside back.
3. Use the up and back combination to get across the midfield line.
Progressions:
1. Only one attacker is allowed to cross over.
2. Shots can be taken from the defensive half.
